President Duterte Praises Lance Gokongwei: Bright Na, Ma-Diskarte Pa!

President Rodrigo Duterte used the launch of Cebu Pacific's Cagayan de Oro hub to heap praises on its chief executive, Lance Gokongwei. In his speech, Duterte said a smart leader like Gokongwei is needed to move the country forward. "You need about 10 to 15 years to build really a country, to realize it. But only kung may mga utak ka pareho kay Lance," he said.

Duterte wanted Gokongwei to become Finance Secretary but the tycoon declined. The President said Gokongwei is not only bright academically, but he also possesses the knack for running a successful business. "They have a knack of, you know, looking for money. They understand the whole gamut of how men are gainfully employed and how to run a business little by little," he said. In jest, Duterte joked that he had to ad lib during the event because Gokongwei is worth more than two pages of prepared speech.

"Alam mo, kaibigan ko si Lance. I value his friendship. Kaya kung ito lang dalawang pages o. Mai-insulto 'yung tao. 'We waited for you for several hours,'" he said. Duterte credited the Gokongweis for growing Cebu Pacific into a small airline into a powerhouse player in the aviation industry. "Question of management 'yan eh - and of course, talent and enterprise, which the family Gokongwei has," he said.

What Your Seat on a Plane Says About You

Window seat fans. Some are born, some become them, some have fandom thrust upon them. And, some psychologists say, there might be a reason for that. People who select window seats are "selfish" and "controlling", and those who prefer aisle seats are more likely to be introverts. More fool you for thinking it was all about legroom.

The psychology of plane seats has been doing the rounds for several years, but, interestingly, experts or, at least, those happy to talk about it  always seem to draw the same conclusions. There might be a reason for that, the seat you choose, psychologist Jonathan Bricker has said in the past, is "a rare opportunity to have some control over your environment when travelling." So what exactly does it mean? Bricker calls the act of choosing an aisle seat "an expression of freedom" you don't have to ask permission to get up, check the overhead locker or go to the toilet, and suggests it's the pick of introverts, who don't want to have to engage with their fellow passengers or feel boxed in. Having said that, it's also the power seat in the row, you get to control whether your seat mates can move around. And the sheer physicality's of the seat mean you're less likely to sleep on the aisle, means that people who need to work are more likely to take it. Aisle = introverted control freak, in other words.

Window seats, he continues, are "nesters" who like to seal themselves off from the rest of the cabin. Harley Street psychologist Becky Spelman goes one further, telling the Telegraph that the "nesting" tendency equates to wanting to "exist in their own bubble", and adding that window seat fans "like to be in control, tend to take an 'every man for themselves' attitude towards life, and are often more easily irritable." Behavioral psychologist Jo Hemmings adds that window seat fans are usually "more selfish". Although not everyone buys this, one psychologist interviewed declined to comment, saying, "It's not something I've ever even thought about." So is there any truth to this idea? "It's true that everyone has a preference," Jack Sheldon of Jack's Flight Club told , adding that although he was skeptical of the sweeping character assassinations, "I'm sure there is some truth to it, and if someone did a study on it, they'd find something not too far from what we'd assume." But a member of cabin crew for a major European airline, and perhaps the ultimate expert on passenger behavior mentions that the idea of seat personalities doesn't ring true.

"I would honestly say, I have never in my 20 years of being a trolley dolly noticed this," she said. "I have served many people in the window or aisle seat and they have been extrovert, shy, demanding, quiet, unassuming and so on. I have never been able to pinpoint a certain type of passenger."

There's no word on the psychological tendencies of those who prefer the middle seat. Possibly because they don't exist - or perhaps, as Sheldon says, they're "usually a sign of poor planning and a disorganized person." Ouch.

The Invisible Creme

Dumb Robbers Caught Nude When “Invisibility Cream” Fails!

ATHENS, Greece a gang of dimwitted thieves conceived the perfect crime when they coated themselves with an invisibility cream sold to them by an elderly Chinese herbalist, then waltzed into a jewelry store naked, certain that they couldn’t be seen.

But the brazen daylight heist turned into a humiliating fiasco because the magic cream was bogus! The five crooks who had doffed their duds so their clothes wouldn’t be seen were busted by police less than 30 seconds after they exited the store in the historic The Plaka district. “The gang leader Aristotle Panagakos has a reputation in this city as something of a criminal mastermind,” said police spokesman Sgt. Demitri Stathopolos. “The failure of this particular caper exposed his shortcomings.”

The three men and two women have been charged with robbery. Panagakos, interviewed in jail, told a reporter that all seemed well when he and his four cohorts entered the Megalos Jewelry Store off Adrianou Street. The sales people did not react to us and we were certain we were invisible to them, he recalled. Only when we walked out and I saw policewomen gawking at my privates and giggling, did I realize that something had gone awry.

Cops from a special police task force, who’d been tipped that a robbery might be going down at one of the many jewelry stores in The Plaka, had instructed employees in the area to remain calm and press a silent alarm if they saw any sign of trouble.

“It was a little difficult keeping a straight face when those people came in, naked as the day they were born, and started poking about in the displays,” explained store manager Callidora Deiphobus. “But I did as the authorities instructed us and triggered the alarm. By the time the thieves left with armfuls of diamond necklaces and gold rings, the police were outside.”

Superstition is common among Greek criminals, who often purchase amulets to ward off police from Gypsies, experts say. According to a statement given to the police by ring leader Panagakos, the robbers bought the “invisibility cream” from a Chinese herbalist named Chin Ho who purportedly sold magic potions.“His nephew, a cat burglar I met at a bar, assured me that he had used the cream successfully many times,” Panagokos told cops. “I paid him a handsome sum, 7,700 Euros (about $10,00 U.S.). Now, of course, I realize the whole thing was a rip-off.”

BUNS-BARING BANDIT: Phoena Zervas, one of the alleged “invisible” jewel thieves, was angered to learn her gang had been duped. 24-year-old Phoena Zervas, the youngest member of the ring, was quickly covered in a coat by arresting officers a few yards from the store. She is furious at Chin Ho, whom she now regards as an “a liar and an evil charlatan. The morning of the robbery, the little old China man came to our hideout with jars of the magic cream, the bosomy brunette said in a jailhouse interview with a Greek TV station. Chin Ho, if that’s his real name explained that people wearing the cream could see each other, but no one else could.

He offered to apply the cream to my body so that I wouldn’t miss a spot. I took him up on the polite offer because he assured me that because he wasn’t wearing the cream he couldn’t see me nude. Now I know that not only could he see every inch of me, I let that old pervert rub his slimy hands over me from head to toe. I feel like a fool. The crafty con artist remains at large.

He is doubtless pulling his scam on other gullible criminals,” said Sgt. Stathopolos. “We’re not optimistic about finding him. And even if we do, we’re not sure what crime we could charge him with. All he did was sell some idiots goo that we have discovered to be 90 percent petroleum jelly.

UNLIKE the dimwitted jewel thieves in this weird crime story, Fantastic Four superhero Susan Storm (Jessica Alba) really can turn invisible.

Tips for Safe Internet Job Search

The Compiled Tips for Safe Internet Job Search

Find the Company's Website: One of the first things to do when you find a job listing online is to verify if the company has a legitimate website. Dubious companies will most likely not have a website. Once you find a company's website, check the profile, about us, and contact information page. You should especially double check if there is a listed company address. A company that doesn't have this on its website is usually a tell-tale sign that it is a sham.

Examine a Website's Content: They say that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. However, in this case, the better the company website looks, the higher the chances are that it isn't a scam site. Check the links and content partners of the website, if any. "A legitimate company would not mind spending a large amount of money to have a website designed beautifully as the same serves as the business's window to the world," the POEA said.

Be Wary of Hard Copies: Companies operating on the Internet would like to operate consistently through online means.A company asking you to send resumes and application papers through snail mail should raise a red flag.

Be Skeptical of Job Offers: If the company offers a luxurious salary with other perks and benefits, be extra careful in dealing with that job. Usually, if an offer is too good to be true, it probably is a scam, trying to lure you to shell out your hard earned cash in exchange for nothing.

Counter check: The POEA also advises you to use search engines to check the website of the company that you are looking to get a job in. Doing web searches will allow you to check if there are other websites carrying the company's name. If those similar sites carry the same offers, you should be alarmed and consider your next moves carefully.

Web searches also let you see if there are existing complaints against the company from others who have already been scammed.

Lesson to Learn from Nokia

During the press conference to announce NOKIA being acquired by Microsoft in 2013, Nokia CEO ended his speech saying this "we didn't do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost". Upon saying that, all his management team, himself included, teared sadly. Nokia has been a respectable company. They didn't do anything wrong in their business, however, the world changed too fast. Their opponents were too powerful.

They missed out on learning, they missed out on changing, and thus they lost the opportunity at hand to make it big. Not only did they miss the opportunity to earn big money, they lost their chance of survival.

The message of this story is, if you don't change, you shall be removed from the competition.
It's not wrong if you don't want to learn new things. However, if your thoughts and mindset cannot catch up with time, you will be eliminated.

Conclusion:
  1. The advantage you have yesterday, will be replaced by the trends of tomorrow. You don't have to do anything wrong, as long as your competitors catch the wave and do it RIGHT, you can lose out and fail.
  2. To change and improve yourself is giving yourself a second chance. To be forced by others to change, is like being discarded.
  3. Those who refuse to learn & improve, will definitely one day become redundant & not relevant to the industry. They will learn the lesson in a hard & expensive way.
Maybe this lesson may apply to your life and career,  ... it is not what you have done, it's what you failed to do...

How to Write The Perfect Resignation Letter

Most people in their lives come to a point in their careers where they will want to resign from their current company. The reasons might be extremely varied, but the intentions are the same. However, this occurrence happens so rarely in one’s career that when you do reach that point, you’re stumped as to what you should do next.

One of the most essential, yet often overlooked, steps in the resignation process is the resignation letter. An expertly-handled resignation means that you’ll leave the company on good terms and leaves the door open in the event that you do choose to return as an employee.

While you’re contemplating the best time to tell your boss that you’re resigning, here are 7 guidelines to keep in mind while you’re penning your resignation letter.
  1. Resignation letters should ideally only be a page in length.
  2. Submit a printed hard copy of your resignation letter instead of emailing it. Besides being more professional, it gives you and your soon-to-be ex-company physical evidence in case of any possible disputes that might arise.
  3. Do not include any derogatory or negative comments in the resignation letter. Even if you’re dying to tell your boss what a self-righteous prick he or she is, explicitly writing it in the resignation letter will not only make you look unprofessional, it might even land you into legal trouble.
  4. The resignation letter should include a brief explanation of why you are leaving the company. However, keep in mind the previous guideline, especially if the main reason why you’re quitting is because your boss is a self-righteous prick.
  5. It is good etiquette in the letter to thank your employer and boss for the opportunities that you’ve been given in the company.
  6. Do take note that most companies require you to serve notice ranging from a few weeks to even two months. This is important in the event that you already have a new job offer lined up. Communicate with your new employers the amount of notice you need to give and include the exact date of when you are resigning from your current company in your resignation letter. Remember to fulfill your mandatory notice period and ensure that it does not clash with the start date of your next job.
  7. If you would like a testimonial from your boss, it is best to ask from it in person rather than requesting for it in the resignation letter. However, keep in mind that your boss is not obligated to give you one, so don’t hound him or her.
